# Semantic Search: Find the Right AI Model and Your Images in Plain English

Vincony gives you access to 800+ AI models across 80+ providers. It also lets you build a personal asset library of generated and saved images. Both create the same underlying problem: how do you find what you need when the catalog is this large?

The answer is semantic search — describing what you are looking for in plain English rather than browsing menus, applying filters, or guessing at the right keyword. This guide covers two implementations: the natural-language model finder (free on every plan) and visual image search in the Asset Library (Pro plan).

The Natural-Language Model Finder (Free)

How It Works

Open the model library and instead of browsing the full list, type a description of what you want to do. The finder reads your description and returns ranked model recommendations with an explanation of why each fits your use case.

Examples of effective queries:

  • "A model that writes in a warm, conversational tone for lifestyle blog posts"
  • "The fastest model available for classifying short support tickets at high volume"
  • "A model strong at reasoning through multi-step legal documents"
  • "Something affordable and accurate for Spanish-to-English translation"
  • "A multimodal model that can describe what is in an uploaded image"

The results are not based on keyword matching against model names or marketing descriptions. They reflect an understanding of the query's meaning and the actual capabilities of each model — so "good at nuanced writing" surfaces different models than "fast and cheap."

Similar Models

Every model detail page includes a Similar models section. This is useful when you already know one model you like and want to explore alternatives — perhaps a faster variant, a cheaper option for lower-stakes tasks, or a model from a different provider with a different training approach.

Similar models is computed from capability profiles, not from surface-level metadata like parameter count. A model that is similar to Claude Sonnet 4.5 in this context is one that performs similarly across the tasks Sonnet is strong at — not just one that is the same size or from the same family.

Both the natural-language model finder and Similar models are free on every Vincony plan, including the free tier.

When to Use It

The model finder is particularly useful in three situations:

  • You are new to a task type and do not know which models are considered strong for it. Describe the task and let the finder build your shortlist.
  • You have a constraint — budget, speed, language, or modality — and want to narrow the field quickly without reading 800 model cards.
  • You want to sanity-check your current choice. Run a description of what you are doing and see if the finder agrees with the model you have been using, or surfaces something you had not considered.

Visual Image Search (Pro)

Building Your Image Index

The Asset Library stores images you have generated or uploaded in Vincony. On the Pro plan ($24.99/mo), you can build a searchable index of your library — one that understands the visual content of each image, not just its filename or any tags you assigned.

To build the index, open the Asset Library and click Build image index. Vincony processes your saved images and creates a representation of what each one shows. This is a one-time step; new images you save are added to the index automatically.

Searching by Visual Content

Once the index is built, you can search your image library by describing what you are looking for:

  • "A product photo on a plain white background"
  • "A dark-themed UI screenshot with a sidebar"
  • "A chart showing growth over time with a blue color scheme"
  • "A portrait-orientation illustration of a person working at a desk"

Results are ranked by how closely the visual content matches your description. The search understands composition, color, subject matter, and mood — not just labels.

This is most useful when:

  • You have generated many variations of an asset and need to find a specific style or composition.
  • You remember roughly what an image looked like but cannot recall when you created it or what you named it.
  • You are building a collection around a visual theme and want to surface existing assets that fit before generating new ones.

Alongside images, Vincony lets you save prompts you have found effective. The saved-prompt search works the same way as image search: describe the kind of prompt you are looking for — "a prompt for generating minimalist product photography" or "the system prompt I use for customer-facing email drafts" — and Vincony retrieves the closest matches from your saved library.

This removes the need to maintain an external document of favourite prompts. Save them in Vincony and retrieve them by meaning when you need them.

Plan requirement: Visual image search and saved-prompt search are available on the Pro plan ($24.99/mo) and above.

A practical workflow that combines both features:

  • Find the right model for a new image generation task using the natural-language model finder — for example, "a model strong at photorealistic product renders with accurate lighting."
  • Generate a set of variations with the model you selected.
  • Save the images and your prompt to the Asset Library.
  • Next time you need a similar asset, search your library first before generating new ones — you may already have something close.

Over time, your Asset Library becomes a curated, searchable collection of work you have produced, and the model finder becomes faster to use as you develop a working knowledge of which models it consistently recommends for your tasks.

Getting Started

Natural-language model finder — free, no setup required. Open the model library and type a description of what you need.

Visual image search — Pro plan required. Open the Asset Library, build your index, and search. If you are not yet on Pro, compare plan options at /pricing.

Saved-prompt search — Pro plan required. Save a prompt from any chat, then search your saved prompts from the Asset Library.

All search results — model recommendations, image matches, and prompt retrievals — are private to your account. Nothing in your library is visible to other users.
