How the Three Panels Work
Navigate to Consensus Engine and you will see a three-tab toolbar: Consensus, Blend, and Research Personas. You can jump directly to any tab with a URL parameter — ?panel=blend or ?panel=research — useful for bookmarking your preferred mode.

Panel 1: Consensus — Agreement Analysis
The Consensus panel is what most people come here for. You type a question, three models answer it independently, then a fourth AI pass synthesizes the results and evaluates how strongly the models agree.
Step-by-step
- Open the Consensus Engine and confirm you are on the Consensus tab.
- Type your question in the prompt field. The placeholder hints at the intended use: "Ask any high-stakes question — 3 models will independently answer and synthesize the best response." Good fits: architecture trade-offs, medical or scientific claims, strategic decisions, contested technical topics.
- Click Submit. While you wait, the tool shows three animated progress indicators — one per model — with pulsing dots labeled GPT-5, Claude Sonnet, and Gemini 3 Flash. Typical wait is 15–25 seconds as all three run in parallel.
- Read the synthesized output. It is structured as a Consensus Analysis with a clear Agreement Level (e.g. "High — 3/3 models agree") followed by the merged answer and a Where Models Disagreed section that surfaces minority positions.
- Below the output, look at the metadata strip: which models were consulted (shown as badges), the consensus indicator (green Consensus Reached or amber Models Disagreed), and the processing time.
What the consensus indicator means
When the indicator shows Consensus Reached, all three models landed on materially the same answer — that is a strong reliability signal. When it shows Models Disagreed, the synthesis still gives you the best reconciled answer, but the disagreement itself is useful data: it means the question is genuinely contested or context-dependent.
Follow-up actions built in
After any result you can click one of three quick follow-ups without retyping: Dig deeper on disagreements re-queries the engine specifically targeting the divergent positions; Simplify for non-technical rewrites the synthesis in plain language; Get pros and cons list transforms the analysis into a structured comparison. There are also cross-tool shortcuts to send the result directly to Fact-Checker or to the Debate Arena.
The tool saves a draft of your last input automatically, so you can close the tab and resume without losing your prompt.

Panel 2: Blend — Weighted Model Mixing
The Blend panel (also reachable at ?panel=blend) approaches multi-model synthesis differently. Instead of evaluating agreement, it literally mixes the three responses according to percentage weights you control — then uses Claude Sonnet as a synthesizer to merge them into one cohesive answer.
Think of it like a DJ mixer: you decide how much of each model's character goes into the final output.

Step-by-step
- Switch to the Blend tab or visit ?panel=blend.
- Look at the Your Mix panel. Three sliders appear, one per model, all starting at roughly 34/33/33. The sliders are linked — pushing one up automatically redistributes the remainder across the other two proportionally, so the total always sums to 100%.
- Adjust the mix for your goal. For a creative writing task, push GPT up to 60% and drop the others. For a factual research summary, shift Gemini toward 50%. For a nuanced analytical piece, weight Claude higher.
- Type your prompt in the textarea and click Mix Cocktail. The tool fires all three models in parallel, then sends all three responses to the synthesizer along with your weight percentages.
- The Blended Result panel appears with a badge showing your exact mix (e.g. "55% GPT + 25% Claude + 20% Gemini"). Use the copy button to grab the output.
- Expand View individual model responses if you want to see what each model said before blending. They are collapsed by default to keep the interface clean.
The total cost is displayed before you submit — currently approximately 15 credits (3 models at 3–6 credits each plus the blend pass). This panel is Power+ gated.
When to use Blend over Consensus
Use Consensus when you want a truthful answer to a specific question and you care whether the models agreed. Use Blend when you want a crafted output — a piece of writing, a structured plan, a polished explanation — where you are more interested in combining stylistic and analytical qualities than in measuring factual agreement.

Panel 3: Research Personas — Four-Lens Synthesis
The Research Personas panel (reachable at ?panel=research) is the former standalone Research Synthesizer, now fully integrated into the Consensus Engine hub. It approaches any topic by assigning four distinct analytical personas, then synthesizing their outputs into a structured report.
The four lenses are: - The Scientist — empirical, data-driven, references studies and statistics - The Skeptic — challenges assumptions, surfaces flaws, presents counter-arguments - The Practitioner — real-world applications, decision-maker focus - The Futurist — 5–10 year trend projections and long-range implications
After the four perspectives, the report adds a Synthesis Report (consensus points, disagreements, confidence level: High/Medium/Low, and explicitly flagged research gaps), an Executive Summary, and a Further Reading section.
Step-by-step for a standard research run
- Switch to the Research Personas tab.
- Pick a Focus Area from the dropdown: General, Academic, Business, Technology, Health/Science, or Policy. This scopes the language and framing — Academic mode uses scholarly language and asks for citations; Business mode emphasizes ROI and market dynamics.
- Choose a Research Depth: Overview (~5s, brief perspectives), Standard (~10s, balanced), or Deep Dive (~18s, extensive counter-arguments and edge cases).
- Select an Output Format: Full Report for comprehensive detail per perspective, or Executive Summary which leads with the synthesis and keeps perspectives concise.
- Type your topic or question and submit. The tool returns a structured markdown report with clearly labeled perspective sections and a color-coded Confidence Gauge below the output.
- After the report, scan the Key Takeaways box (highlighted in a primary-tinted panel) and the Research Gaps strip — amber-colored badge chips that you can click to immediately run a follow-up investigation on that gap.
Comparative Mode
Toggle Comparative Mode on before submitting and type two topics separated by "vs" (e.g. "Solar vs Wind energy"). All four personas will analyze both topics side-by-side, highlighting where they overlap and diverge. Each topic gets a color-coded badge in the output header.
Multi-AI Research Mode
The most powerful option in this panel is the Multi-AI Research toggle, which fires three real-time AI models — Perplexity, Gemini, and GPT-5 — in parallel against your topic before synthesizing. This costs 8 credits (versus 3 for single-model mode) and takes about 25 seconds, but the breadth of source coverage is significantly higher. The output header shows which models contributed and flags any that failed. This mode is available on Pro and Business plans.
Post-output workflow
The Research Personas panel has the richest post-output toolkit on the platform:
- Deepen Research group: Deep dive on the weakest area, generate citations, counter-argument analysis, generate research questions
- Transform Output group: Executive summary, simplify for general audience, generate bibliography, presentation outline
- Cross-tool links: Send directly to Fact-Checker, Debate Arena, Blog Writer, or Slide Generator
- Re-run bar: One-click re-run at a different depth or focus area without retyping your topic

Match the panel to your question type. Factual, high-stakes, or contested questions belong in Consensus. Open-ended, creative, or stylistic tasks benefit from Blend. Complex topics that need structured analysis — research, strategy, policy questions — belong in Research Personas.
Use the disagreement signal deliberately. A "Models Disagreed" badge in the Consensus panel is not a failure — it is signal. It tells you the question is context-dependent or the evidence is genuinely mixed. Read the disagreement section carefully before acting on the synthesized answer.
In Blend, start at equal weights and adjust after one run. Read the individual model responses first (they are collapsible below the blended output) to see which model's contribution you actually want more of before tuning the sliders.
For Research Personas, start Standard depth and upgrade selectively. Overview is great for quick orientation on a new topic. Deep Dive is worth the extra wait when you need counter-arguments and edge cases for a decision that matters. Do not default to Deep Dive on every query — Standard covers most needs.
Draft recovery is automatic. All three panels save your last input to local storage. If you close the tab mid-session, reopen Consensus Engine and your draft prompt will be restored automatically.
Keyboard shortcuts save time. Press C to copy the current output, S to save to favorites, ? to open the shortcuts help panel. In Research Personas, P toggles all perspective cards at once — useful for hiding sections you have already read.
