Agentic systems in 2026 are reliable for well-scoped tasks (multi-step research, code refactoring across files, scheduled monitoring) and increasingly used in production, though they still require human review for high-stakes work.

A user tells an AI agent 'monitor my competitor's pricing pages weekly and alert me when anything changes'. The agent navigates to each page, captures the price, stores it, compares against last week, and emails the user if anything moved. All from a single goal statement.
